Simple Kapadia was the younger sister of Dimple Kapadia, a famous bollywood actress. However, Simple was in the 80s, a very famous actress as well. She is & forever will be my favourite actress. Lets start from the very beginning…

We are in 1973. The movie Bobby starring Dimple Kapadia & Rishi Kapoor just came out and is a huge success. The movie throws in the limelight 15 year old Dimple Kapadia and gets younger sister Simple all pumped up…

At that time, Simple is only 14, and already blown away by her elder sister's overnight stardom.  Undoubtedly, she wants to reach to the stars and do better than her elder sister. Her dad, after cashing in on Dimple, decides now to cash on her. Dimple, in the meantime, has got married to Rajesh Khanna & Simple seems part of the dowry…

The film is a flop.However, Simple is unjustly blamed for that. The very young lady will go through a very hard time but after a few months she is back

After Anurodh , Simple was labelled with various horrific surnames. For a 19 year old, she however, showed great personality. She always showed up with sister Dimple and bro-in law Rajesh Khanna. check picture below…

Simple was always there to patch up things between the celebrity couple and she was always there for them 

The innocence of her smile, the beauty of her delicate face didn't erase the jealousy of her surroundings, Simple, unlike Dimple, was never to be given a second chance.

 However, her next movie "Chakravuyha" is where she thought she rebounded. Despite playing a great second role, she was again unfairly pounded by the press.

                                                                       

Simple had to face unjust criticism all throughout her acting career. People were more interested involving her in baseless rumours with Ranjeet and every opportunity was good to ridicule her and bring her down. Check this page of a newspaper below…shocking!!!

In 1979, she starred in"Ahsaas" with superstars like Amitabh Bachan. All credit to her. Simple was only at that time, a young 21 year old young woman facing more criticism than ever. 

In "Ahsaas", she  only had an item role but did a wonderful acting job despite the despicable behaviour of actor Parvez with her…Here are some pics of her in Ahsaas…

Despite all this great acting, encouraged by a biased press who only mentioned her erroneously as the  not so endowed version of Dimple, Simple didn't give up.

 She was only a young girl, faced against a world of criticism. She even tried her luck in a Tamil movie "KizakhumMerkhum Sandhikarana". This movie, was however, a major flop & poor Simple was again, unjustly,blamed for that.

The year is 1980. Its already 3 years that she has been in the film industry. That innocent look pre-Anurodh ( seems to have disappeared)…

Rebuked, mocked, she again tries to rebound.

With the help of Superstar Dev Anand, she manages to get a role in Man Pasand, where she outshines the female leading actress of the movie, Tina Munin. . Then came Lootmaar, where her acting was tremendous and here again she had the carpet of glory pulled under her, very unfairly.

1981..Simple Kapadia's reputation is at its lowest despite a magnificent performance in Lootmaar.  

 In the theme song, "Jab Chayye Nere Jadoo", she danced wonderfully, carried the movie all by herself only to have herself criticized. Kalpana Iyer, only the secondary dancer in that song and nowhere near the grace of Simple was glorified whereas the latter was ignored despite a wonderful performance and hailed "a horrible dancer"

Despite all these atrocities said about her, Simple was given a last chance by Director Shyam Ralhan in Shaaka. She plays a beautiful jewel thief opposite Superstar Jeetendra, and her performance is simply astounding.

 Unfortunately, the cabal against her won't end…

She is ridiculed for her role as Mina and even years later Simple would say to me that she was"horrible in Shaaka" although she was wonderful in it...

She is wonderful in Jeevan Dhara despite critics saying she is nowhere near as beautiful as her elder sister Dimple. Judge for yourself in this picture

The year is now 1982. Simple is now only offered minor roles. She however distinguishes herself in several movies in the next couple of years.
